Can I install landscape lighting myself?
For best results, we recommend homeowners find a certified professional landscape lighting installer. However, since this is a low voltage system, end users do have the opportunity to install themselves.
How does low voltage landscape lighting work? What are the basics to a landscape lighting installation?
It begins with understanding what you want to illuminate and how to get wire from the power source to the light fixture.  It all starts with the transformer, the power source. It plugs into a GFCI-protected outdoor electrical outlet and "steps down" your house current from 120 volts to 12 volts.

Next up: laying the cable. Low-voltage electrical cable is designed to be buried underground. It runs from the transformer to each light fixture in your system.

After the lights are connected, you're ready to go. Most transformers are equipped with a 24-hour timer that allows you to decide when the lights go on and off automatically.
Besides making my home look nice, what advantages are there to landscape lighting?
First, it adds security without looking gaudy. No longer does a security light need to be just a flood light hung above the garage. There are various lighting options and just having extra light around your property makes a thief think twice.

Second, it adds safety. If your pathways, stairways, driveway and gardens are well-lit, you don't have to worry about a guest tripping or losing their way in the dark.

Third, it extends the ability to use your outdoor space. It's great when on those warm summer nights you can use your yard and deck late into the night, and still enjoy your landscaping.

Lastly, it adds value to your home. As much as a 50% return because of all the reasons mentioned above, plus it modernizes your home.

Aluminum vs. Brass
Lite the Nite offers both types of materials and each has its own unique attributes.

Aluminum:

- Lightweight
Which spotlight should I choose?
This depends on three aspects of what you are choosing to illuminate
1. Dimensions (height and width) of item being illuminated
2. Distance from fixture to item Darkness of object being illuminated.
3. Evergreen trees tend to absorb light so need to go with greater illumination options.
Which pathlight should I choose?
This is a matter of style preference. Lite the Nite path lights come with 12 or 18 inch stems and 6 or 8 inch hats.

The greater the area needing to be illuminated, the higher the path LED should be from the ground and the wider the hat should be.

8 inch hats with 18 inch stems will illuminate approximately 8 feet of area.

The 6 inch hats with same size stems will illuminate 6 feet of area.  If using 12 inch stems, lower your illumination area by 2 feet per.
Which transformer should I choose?
Lite the Nite offers an AC and DC version of powering our LEDs. DC (Direct Current) is far superior for dimming and increased LED lifespan.

Furthermore, our DC Power Packs offer lighting strike and surge protection and will power anything AC or DC up to 13.4V.  AC is a lower cost option and is best used for simplistic installations.

Both types of powering options come with built-in timer functions Please remember to only use up to 70% of total output allowing for longer runs and resistance.
